What is an autoresponder and why might you need one? Basically, an autoresponder is an email or series of emails that are sent out automatically to a person or list of people. An autoresponder you’ve no doubt seen is the "out of the office" or “on vacation” message you receive when you email someone who is away, but wants people to know “Hey, I’m not ignoring you!”
But autoresponders can be used to accomplish much more sophisticated selling tasks. Autoresponders are very powerful and important because few people will purchase your product the first time they hear about it. In fact, research indicates:
2% of sales are made on the 1st contact
3% of sales are made on the 2nd contact
5% of sales are made on the 3rd contact
10% of sales are made on the 4th contact
80% of sales are made on the 5th-12th contact
Wow, I guess it’s pretty important to keep in touch with potential customers! But do you want to pick up the phone—or even personally email prospects—up to 12 times? I know I sure don’t. That’s where autoresponders come in. You use an autoresponder program to set up a series of emails that will be sent to prospects after they provide their email address asking for more information, when they sign up for a newsletter, a free special report, etc.
Autoresponders can also be used to send out an ecourse, such as my 90-Day Jumpstart. You do the work once, then it keeps on working on your behalf. Just the other day, I received a $706 check in the mail for a product offered through a link in one of autoresponder messages. That’s an example of combing Affiliate Marketing with Autoresponders. It sure paid off for me. It can pay off for you.
Autoresponders can also be used to send out your Monthly Newsletter. In our busy world, an important aspect of marketing is simply reminding people you are still “out there” working hard and providing a great product or service.
When you offer quality information that people want, they happily give you their email address. With an autoresponder, prospective customers give you permission to send them marketing information. It’s a great opportunity to educate and inform people about your products and services. As you send them good information over time, you establish trust. People buy from people they know, so adding an autoresponder to your marketing mix can be a good way to add to your bottom line as well.
Here is the autoresponder service I personally use and recommend.
